This day is one that will be remembered in Virginia for many years to come. Today, someone lashed out on Va. Tech's campus and has claimed the lives of 30+ students. The fact of the matter is that this did not occur at a place of business or a shopping mall. In Virginia, the right to self-defense still is strongly held and respected. This attack took place at a school, one of the few places that does not allow law-abiding citizens the right to defend themselves. Some will latch onto this unlawful act as an opportunity to erode further our Second Amendment rights. However, I ask: how many students would have been murdered in cold blood had a few of their classmates been exercising their Constitutional right to self-defense that day? I can assure you that the number would be far less than reality.
